Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year, is one of the most important traditional festivals in Chinese culture. It marks the beginning of a new lunar year and is a time for renewal, gratitude, and hope. Celebrated by millions of people around the world, the festival brings families and communities together to welcome a fresh start.
Rooted in thousands of years of history, Chinese New Year reflects deep cultural values such as harmony, respect for tradition, and blessings for the future. Each year is associated with one of the twelve zodiac animals, symbolizing different qualities and aspirations for the year ahead.

In the traditional Chinese system, each zodiac animal is paired with one of the Twelve Earthly Branches (Dizhi). The Horse is paired with Wu, forming Wu Horse (午馬). This pairing is not random—Wu corresponds to the time period from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., when the sun is at its highest point, mirroring the horse’s peak energy and speed.
Historically, horses were essential to ancient Chinese society, serving in transportation, agriculture, and military communication. Their strength, endurance, and reliability aligned naturally with the powerful yang energy of Wu. Over time, this association became embedded in Chinese cosmology, solidifying the Horse’s identity as the zodiac animal of Wu.
